Shine a Light – Schools Project

A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY TO SHOWCASE THE TALENTS OF YOUR STUDENTS

This year’s Tablelands Folk Festival runs from October 23-25 in the township of Yungaburra and has strong focus on encouraging and supporting the development of music, theatre skills, circus skills, poetry and storytelling. Predominantly, over the years, this has been achieved through workshops across the Tablelands with the assistance of Regional Arts Development Grants via Tablelands Regional Council. Many have benefited from these workshops.

We are keen to “Shine a Light” on our talented local youth and we invite North Queensland schools to participate in the 2020 festival in a performance capacity.

Venues will be made available, ranging from a Blackboard stage for solo and duo performances, the TAFE Youth Stage located within our Children’s Festival area, to the Yungaburra Community Hall suited to School Bands and Orchestras.

Time frames are flexible but we are aiming to incorporate most school performances on Saturday afternoon, October 24 and envisage a maximum of 45 minutes performance time per school.

We invite you to go to lodge an Expression of Interest after 1 June and by 31st August, just click on the link on the website footer under “HOT DATES”. Please include a short description of the type of performance your school would like to include in our 2020 program.

This type of performance opportunity encourages students to take their talents and hard work to the next level, creates opportunities to interact with professionals, and builds community spirit by being a part of this annual community event.

We are very pleased to be working with REACH (Regional Excellence in Arts and Culture Hubs) on the coordination of this project. Looking forward to hearing from your school in the near future.

Yours sincerely
